Painting: 1/100 Kshatriya Resin Kits - Head and Torso

After having this 1/100 NZ-666 Kshatriya full resin kit for about a year now, I've finally decided to paint it, starting with the head and torso. I have previously cleaned and dry-fit built the kit, so all the kit needs is some final checks and painting can begin.

Aside from a few surface imperfections that needed sanding, very little prep work was needed. Some panel lines were added for parts separation and a large gap between parts needed fixing.

The center part of the Vulcans need to me cut and made to fit into the metal ring that will sit in the middle of the Vulcans.

After washing the parts, on to primer.

And then color. I will be using four different shades of green for this Kshatriya, meaning a good amount of color separation will be done. Its a rather ambitious and painstaking color scheme that I hope I can pull it off. For the inner part of the torso, I used a very bright, apple orchard green.

For the armor parts, I used a regular green shade called bright green. This will be the main green used throughout the Kshatriya.

Following the regular green, I add a dark green, old ivy, on some parts as well as a pre-shade of a metallic emerald green mixed with metallic silver and black.

After the pre-shade is added, a metal finish is added to all the green parts. The finish is a mix of metallic peridot and Future Floor Shine in a very high Future to paint ratio. This will give the colors a metallic finish with out changing the existing shade too much.

With all the greens done, the other parts get painted as well.

As I paint the other parts, more color are added to painted green pieces.

Finishing all the colors on the parts, a layer of top coat is added and detailing can begin.

After the detailing completes, decals and panel lines are added then on to the final assembly.

A final layer of top coat is added to seal in all the detailing, decals and panel lines.

The completed head and torso.

Next are the waist and skirts.
