Painting: Bardiel Bloodbath Effects

I've always imagined Bardiel as a bloodthirsty monster using its bare hands and mouth to massacre its opponent. After all, he doesn't use weapons like the Eva units do. So I decided to finish Bardiel with an after battle bloodbath effect.

I started off with brushing red paint with a stiff bristle brush. The same type of brush I use for dry brushing. I apply it on the hands, parts of the arms, the shoulder pylons, some on the chest and a bit on the face. I only apply paint to the front of the kit.

After the first layer of paint dries, I use the same brush and paint and dab paint on to the kit using the tip of the brush. I apply the paint to the tips of the underside of the fingers, the palm, wrist, most of the chest, on the face and inside the mouth. This should simulate globs of blood on the body.

After the second layer dries, I then apply paint that simulates blood splatters on the body. To do the splatter effect, I still use the same stiff bristle brush but use thinned paint instead. To apply the paint, I use an old credit card and run the edge of the card over the tip of the brush to flick the paint from the brush to the kit. I keep the brush in the same place but flick paint in different directions.

When the splatter effects dry, I then added blood drips and runs. This time I used a fine round brush and thinned paint. I place a drop of paint on the kit and do a downward stroke with the brush. I also build up on edges and do a downward stroke from there.

After everything dries, this is the result we get.

Together with the black color scheme, all that blood just makes Bardiel look even more demonic.
